Membrane work, June 29, 2026

Weather: 21°C, mostly cloudy
Workers onsite: At least two

Work done today:

  • Work was done on establishing pedestrian access through the emergency repair area (see photos below)
  • Additional work was done to complete pedestrian access in the Phase 1 extension area and to the stairs leading to the hospital lane.
  • General housekeeping (clean-up) was done, particularly in the emergency repair area
  • The biweekly meeting took place onsite with the following parties attending:
    • Strata Engineering
    • Prostar
    • Copperstone Council (represented by the President)
    • Quay Pacific did not have anyone in attendance

At the biweekly meeting, Prostar stated the pedestrian access noted above would be ready by the end of this week (Friday, July 3). From my observations, the access through the emergency repair area appears to be ready and all barriers/fencing have been removed.

There is also a reasonable expectation that the City of New Westminster will finally grant the permit for Phase 2 within the next few weeks.

Membrane work, June 25, 2026

Workers onsite: At least 2

Work done today:

  • Soil placed in the Phase 1 extension, adjacent to the wooden beams, with additional soil placed into the planter adjacent to the 244 building.
  • Bridge placed in emergency repair area, possibly to allow foot traffic through as remainder of the area is worked on.
  • Flashing is being cut and put back into the base of the 244 building in the emergency repair area.

Membrane work, June 24, 2026

Weather: 30°C, mostly sunny
Workers onsite: 2

Work done today:

  • Temporary path from the fire door adjacent to the 244 building entrance was completed in anticipation of the temporary closure of the building entrance starting tomorrow. That work has now been postponed until Monday, July 6, 2026. It is unclear how this path will affect work in the Phase 1 extension area over the next 11 days.
  • No other work was observed onsite, though there is a lot that can obviously be done, especially with good weather.
Temporary path from 244 fire door that will be used starting July 6, 2026.

Building 244 main entrance temporary closure postponed until Monday, July 6, 2026

What the title says. Apparently Prostar cannot do the work if there is precipitation. I guess this means if it showers on July 6 or on any other future start date they will literally never complete the project1.

Here’s the revised notice.
