Jeff power-washed the stone cladding around the main Copperstone sign again. This was last done in September, showing how quickly moss can grow back on an untreated surface. He also began washing down the nearby sidewalk, which has taken to growing a bit of moss as well.

The stone cladding around the Copperstone sign is moss-free–again!
Council Vice President Jeff has finished power-washing the stairs and walk leading to Allen Street, on the south side of the 244 building.

I don’t have a before shot of the stairs, but here’s how they looked after cleaning:
(Jeff does the power-washing on his own time and at his own expense, so it doesn’t take away from his duties as a member of Copperstone Council.)
When he wasn’t hosing down the stairs, Jeff took time over the Thanksgiving weekend to re-install the light bollard that had been missing from in front of the 240 building (Jeff is a certified electrician, so he is qualified to do the work). The bollard was recovered after getting knocked over in the past year.

Over Friday and Saturday, Jeff and I brought out the hoses and cleaned up the concrete path that wraps around the 244 building, as well as the stairs facing Allen Street.
I’m not sure if they have ever been hosed down before, so we were clearing away years of accumulated dirt and crud. We were also careful to not accidentally hose anyone passing by. 🙂

Not because we went around inside it spraying Febreze, but the vents that allow air in and out have been hosed down, allowing air to flow more freely. For good measure, the floor was hosed down, too.
Signs have been placed on the three dumpsters in the 244 garbage room, reminding the garbage removal company to fold the lids back when returning them to the garbage room. We’ll continue to monitor and follow up with the company if needed to make sure the bins remain easily accessible.
