Weather: Sun and cloud, 23C

Work done:

  • The area adjacent to the 248 building had its soil, flowers, vegetation and trees removed.
  • The Allan blocks1 between the 244 and 248 buildings have been removed. All blocks filled with cement have been disposed of, as they can’t be re-used (ones filled with dirt can be kept and re-used).
  • Pavers forming the sidewalk leading to the staircase have been removed and stored in the central courtyard (visitor parking).

The number of workers onsite appeared to be 4-6.

Phase 1 Membrane Project, Day 8 (September 8, 2025)

Weather: 23C, sun and cloud mix

No work done onsite today. The first bi-weekly status meeting took place involving:

  • Prostar
  • Strata Engineering
  • Sub contractor reps
  • Copperstone Council (President and Vice President attending)

Based on discussions, clean-up of the work area should be complete in the next few days, after which the forms for concrete will be placed, and then concrete poured. If the weather turns wet, tarps will likely be put in place to allow the concrete to remain dry while it cures.

Prostar is suggesting that the old structure of wooden beams/gravel fill along the perimeter of the back of the 244 building be replaced with soil and grass (extending the lawn right to the edge of the building and patios). The wood and grass was an architectural feature, but has essentially no visibility, as it faces the retaining wall. Extending the lawn to the building would be cheaper and provide a more uniform look. This will be brought to council for a final decision.

Weather: 24°C, hazy sun, brief late afternoon showers

Work done today:

  • Aeration membrane pieces removed. These rubber “mats” sit above the membrane. They had been previously piled into the flower bed between the 244 and 248 buildings and have now been disposed of.
  • All wooden beams have now been disposed of (UPDATE: I have confirmed the wooden beams were loaded into a truck and removed from the site).
  • The stone wall that forms tier 1 of the retaining wall was power-washed.
  • The pavers from the south-most patio facing the retaining wall have been temporarily removed.
  • New plywood!

Workers onsite: Two observed doing the washing, four others loaded and removed the wooden beams.

New material is being brought in for the project.

Work done today:

  • Irrigation system behind the 244 building has been moved temporarily onto the first tier of the retaining wall gardens.
  • Remaining wooden beams have been cleared from the area.
  • Drains have been covered in plywood.

I could not get an exact crew count, but it appeared 3–6 people may have been onsite.

The only activity onsite today was delivery of a large waste bin later in the afternoon.

The driver was unsure where to put the bin and was unable to get hold of anyone who could tell him. The council VP happened to be passing by and advised him to put it in the four spaces that had been requested and reserved by Prostar adjacent to the 244 building, as shown below1.
