The official notice can be found below. Here are a few observations on my part.
First, a thanks to everyone who attended or submitted proxies. Your participation is important in making Copperstone work as a community. This also goes to everyone who asked questions or raised concerns.
Second, the vote on Phase 2 membrane project funding overwhelmingly passed, with 41 in favour, 2 abstentions and 2 owners not voting (which is a bit odd).
Third, I am disappointed by how few actually participated. Only 34 people attended directly, with 10 proxies, for a total of 44 out of 231 owners. I understand that 14 proxies could not be counted, but even including those would have raised the total number to only 58 total owners.
Here’s the breakdown of the representation:
- 44 votes is 19% of all owners
- 58 is 25% of all owners (if you add the 14 disqualified proxies)
Having less than 20% of all owners decide on how to spend $2.7 million of owners money is not good, even if the decision made is the best one. No strata should have important decisions made by so few people.
I think we need to figure out why participation is so low and see what can be done to improve it for future meetings and decision-making. For reference, there were 96 at the 2026 AGM and that is still only 41% of owners–well below half.
