Observing a council meeting

Under the Strata Property Act, owners may attend council meetings as observers.

If you are an owner and wish to observe a council meeting, follow these steps:

Owners will be placed in a waiting room before the meeting begins and will be added to the meeting when it starts. Meetings typically last 60–90 minutes. Owners may be placed in the waiting room if council discusses the items covered below. See here for source.

However they (owners) may not attend portions of meetings related to: bylaw enforcement proceedings; rental restriction bylaw exemption hearings; and matters where a person’s privacy would be unreasonably interfered with

NOTE: You will be listed in the meeting minutes as an observer.
